Midwives and Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) are instrumental perpetuates and promoters of FGM practice in Sudan. The long--term slogan of converting midwives and TBAs into advocates against FGM and providing them with modern midwifery instruments have culminated into perpetuation and medicalization of the practice. Hence, a great number of unrecorded forms of FGM are now being practiced in Sudan. All (100) of the respondents Midwives and TBAs, randomly selected from Khartoum State perform one or more types and/or forms of FGM.
